No City? No Problem: Free NEET-JEE Coaching Reaches Remote UT Schools

IIT Kanpur Launches Free JEE/NEET Coaching in UTs via SATHEE

IIT Kanpur Brings Free JEE/NEET Coaching to Remote UTs via SATHEE

Dadra & Nagar Haveli, Daman & Diu – July 10, 2025: In a groundbreaking move to bridge educational gaps, IIT Kanpur has officially launched free JEE and NEET coaching classes in government schools of the Union Territories of Dadra & Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu under its SATHEE (Self-Assessment Test and Help for Entrance Exams) program.

🎯 What's the Initiative About?

The SATHEE initiative aims to empower students in remote and underserved regions by giving them access to high-quality coaching resources previously limited to metro cities. The program leverages smart classroom infrastructure to deliver both live and recorded classes taught by expert faculty from IITs and AIIMS.

📚 How It Works

  • Live classes are streamed during regular school hours via smart boards.
  • Students can access recorded sessions anytime for revision.
  • Personalized mock tests, performance analytics, and multilingual content are part of the toolkit.
  • Local teachers are trained to facilitate discussions and resolve doubts using the platform.

🧑‍🏫 Who Benefits?

Over 5,000 students across various government high schools in the UTs are expected to benefit from this initiative. The first phase includes 25 pilot schools, with plans to scale up in 2026.

🚀 Why It Matters

This initiative is a significant step toward leveling the playing field for competitive exams. For many students in remote areas, access to structured coaching for JEE and NEET was nearly impossible. IIT-Kanpur's SATHEE is expected to boost success rates in national entrance exams from these regions.

💬 What Officials Say

Speaking on the launch, Prof. Sandeep Sharma, SATHEE Project Lead at IIT Kanpur, said: “Our mission is simple – make quality education a right, not a privilege. With SATHEE, we’re redefining possibilities for students far from coaching hubs.”

📅 What's Next?

The Education Ministry is already considering replicating this model in other UTs like Lakshadweep and Andaman & Nicobar Islands. A national SATHEE app is also in development for pan-India access.
